Home AI Platform
Local LLMs · Open WebUI · Docker · APIs · Automation
A private AI environment running on self-hosted infrastructure for experimenting with local language models, automation, document workflows, and software integrations.
The Goal
The goal of this project is to build an AI environment that I can control and extend rather than relying entirely on standalone cloud applications.
It provides a foundation for experimenting with local inference, private data workflows, APIs, and automation while integrating AI with the rest of my home infrastructure.
Architecture
AI Interface
– Open WebUI
– Browser-based access
– Private authentication
– Central interface for local models
Compute & Hosting
– Linux server
– Docker
– Local model runtime
– Persistent configuration and storage
Access Layer
– Cloudflare Tunnel
– Private remote access
– No traditional inbound port forwarding
What I’m Building Toward
The platform is intended to support workflows such as:
– working with personal documents
– development assistance
– local knowledge search
– automation of repetitive tasks
– integration with home services
– API-driven workflows
– experimentation with different local models
Why Local AI
Running AI locally gives me a practical environment to learn how AI applications actually fit into broader systems.
Instead of treating an LLM as an isolated chatbot, I can experiment with the surrounding architecture: storage, authentication, APIs, automation, monitoring, networking, and integration with other applications.
Integration With My Home Platform
The AI environment is part of the broader personal cloud infrastructure rather than a standalone machine.
It runs alongside services such as Nextcloud, WordPress, media services, monitoring, and automation tools, allowing future workflows to connect AI with existing applications and data.
